Slowing growth, decreased wages, and rising unemployment all spell doom for new car sales. However, this doesn’t mean there isn’t money to be made in the automotive industry. There are plenty of companies who operate in the secondary automotive sector and who are in the business of repairing and maintaining used cars. In a recession, people are more likely to repair their current car rather then buy a completely new car. Some of the leading companies who operate in this secondary automotive sector include Monroe Muffler Brake Inc. (MNRO), AutoZone Inc. (AZO), and O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (ORLY).

While the details of the Obama economic stimulus package are still far from finalized, the prudent investor can look at the broad strokes and consider steps to capture some of the stimulus wave. Mark Cuban & Insider Trading – Maverick or Martha Stewart
By his own admission, Mark Cuban sold his shares in Mamma.com Inc., now Copernic Inc.(CNIC), after receiving non-public information from a senior officer of the company. However, insider trading is notoriously hard to prove, for a variety of reasons. One can only imagine that the SEC is very confident in their case; surely aware of the press this charge would generate and Mr. Cuban’s financial means for a legal battle. Even if convicted, because this is a civil suit, Mr. Cuban will not face jail time. Instead, he would be required to hand over a few million dollars, which is pocket change for him. This is not to say that the SEC should not aggressively pursue this case. This whole incident merely illustrates Mr. Cuban’s solipsism and disregard for the principles of the marketplace the same marketplace that allowed him to amass his staggering wealth in the first place.
Aren’t Long Calls and Married Puts the Same Thing?
Chris Smith actually bought The Blueprint. I’m okay with his review, except he should be informed that: 1) The Blueprint’s chapters HAVE been revised to name the Income Methods with the traditionally accepted terms, so that part should be eliminated if he wants a current, accurate review and be reminded… 2) The benefit of the married put at the outset is that it defines risk more readily, in a more understandable way for many.
Investing in Cash Supported Companies
In turbulent times like these, it is important to make sure that the companies you are investing in are financially stable. One way to determine this is by looking at the company’s balance sheet and comparing the amount of debt they have with the amount of cash they have. If a company has a lot of cash and little debt, they will have more opportunities and provide more stability to shareholders than less fortunate companies who have little cash and a lot of debt.
Top Busted Stocks – What Could Have Been with Stock Options
Is there another Great Depression on the horizon, or is it upon us as I write? That seems to be the question. More than a few Wall Street giants have gone belly-up in this time of, to put it lightly, unfavorable conditions. In the past couple of days, the biggest news to hit Wall Street is that of the demise of behemoths such as IndyMac, AIG, Lehman Brothers, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac Bear Stearns, and don’t forget the buy out of Merrill Lynch by Bank of America (BAC).
Investing in Global Warming
The signs of the increasingly warming world are becoming clearer, whether global warming is something to become alarmed over or whether it is here to stay is still questionable. In an environment of global warming there will be companies taking advantage of the warming environment to produce profits. Listed below are a few to consider.
Stock Option Investing in Sports: “Are you ready for some football?”
Nothing excites Americans more than NFL football. Nothing excites the NFL more than profits. Isn’t it about time you profit from the NFL? Look to score a touchdown with these football related investments.
Covered Call Strategies for a Bear Market
The covered call investing stock option strategy is considered a neutral-to-bullish stock option investing strategy. However, with the fairly recent of appearance of short and ultra-short Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on the stock option investing radar, covered calls can also be used for potentially generating income in bearish markets. In turbulent or downward-trending markets, short and ultra-short ETFs offer investors a way to hedge their bets, protect their overall portfolios or generate income with covered calls. But these funds aren’t for novices, and it’s important to understand how they work before venturing into the world of short trading through ETFs.
Stock Investing with Software Companies
As with every bear market in the past, the US stock market will eventually cycle through the current decline and start to climb again. During this process, sectors that had previously been favored are usually replaced with new sectors that lead the new bull move.
