Ladish Co., Inc. (LDSH) announced it would be supplying parts for the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 aircraft engines. The engines will be used in Boeing’s new 787 twin-engine Dreamliners purchased by Air China. Details of the agreement will also include a Ladish-Air China maintenance contract. Analysts have pointed to this deal to illustrate Ladish’s long-term financial stability and potential for growth.

Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings, Inc. (AVR), a leading producer and supplier of ethanol, announced earlier this month it would be building new storage facilities in the state of Missouri. Aventine Renewable Energy produces, supplies, and markets ethanol, bio-products and animal feed products throughout the United States. Among its products are ethanol used as fuel, corn gluten, and yeasts. The company also does beer fermentation for the production of beer. The company was formerly known as Williams Bio-Energy and is based in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Time Warner (TWX) – News Corp (NWS) – Black Market DVD
Will the Chinese turn from their black market wares and embrace the legal offerings of American companies? News Corp (20th Century Fox) (NWS) is betting on it and is planning to sell inexpensive DVDs to Chinese consumers. A similar concept turned many US consumers from free file sharing websites to legitimate download sites such as iTunes.
Magic Returns to the Disney (DIS) Kingdom
Mickey and Minnie mouse may be able to afford a house in the Hamptons this year. Walt Disney (DIS) announced yesterday its fourth quarter profits nearly doubled with a revenue growth of 14%. The earnings are thought to be in large part due to the overwhelming success of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.” Also Disney’s cable networks continue to return strong earnings.
Microsoft (MSFT) – Novell (NOVL) – Red Hat (RHAT) Triangle
On Friday Microsoft (MSFT) reached a deal with the Novell Corp. (NOVL) that makes it easier for consumers to use both Microsoft and Linux products. This puts pressure on Red Hat Inc. (RHAT), a company selling Linux related products, and whose shares fell recently after Oracle Inc. (ORCL) announced they would be providing technical support for Linux.
